Metro Group began in 1993 as a specialist communications provider in southeast Melbourne, delivering reliable phone system installations for local businesses. What started as a small operation quickly evolved, driven by a commitment to quality workmanship and a deep understanding of emerging technology.

In 1994, we formed a long‑standing partnership with Aria Technologies to supply and install the flagship LG phone system — a relationship that continues today through the delivery and maintenance of Ericsson‑LG solutions across Victoria.

As the demand for data and connectivity surged throughout the 2000s, Metro Group expanded into structured cabling, fibre optic installations, and broader IT infrastructure. This growth positioned us as a trusted provider for organisations seeking dependable, future‑ready communications solutions.

By 2006, we recognised the need for a more streamlined approach to Communications, Security, and Electrical services. In response, we broadened our team with highly qualified specialists and transitioned into a fully integrated solutions provider — simplifying the process for commercial, construction, and government clients.

Today, Metro Group operates as a progressive, multi‑disciplinary business with dedicated teams across our Communications and Security divisions. We maintain strategic partnerships nationally and work alongside a network of skilled subcontractors to support projects of all sizes. Metro Group is led by Managing Director Shane Franklin, who brings more than 30 years of industry experience across communications, security, and technology integration. Having worked from the ground up — from technician to project lead to business owner — Shane’s practical expertise and leadership have shaped Metro Group into the trusted provider it is today.
